Our Mission is to spread "The Joy
Of The Fiber Arts"
Knitting, Crochet, Sewing, Weaving,
etc... all
skill levels are welcome from beginner to advanced.
At Philly
Knits we hold
meetups
at various locations and online. Plus, we
strongly encourage our members to start their own meetups in their neighborhoods, at local
libraries, through their
civic association, etc..
In particular, we believe that
Fiber Arts and other "hands-on" skills should be taught in the schools as
part of the required curriculum, not only in after-school programs
(see
School Programs),
and therefore we would appreciate help from our Philly Knits members to lobby the School Board
to that end.
We also post Fiber "events" (so let us know), as well as "requests for volunteers"
from charities, artistic projects,
local museums, libraries, educational institutions, businesses, and
rehabilitation facilities. Also. send us your contact information if
your business has to do with the Fiber Arts and we'll list you on our
website:
Yarn Stores,
Stitchers Who
Sell Their Stuff,
Local Fiber Farmers.
The
Fiber Arts are good for the brain, as they both challenge and relax us. It also
connects us to one another, helping to "knit together" our communities.
So, please join us and help spread the
